October News from Fireside Fernweh
Updated: Dec 4, 2021
Another GREAT month in the books for our Fireside Fernweh dogs! We brought home some amazing wins, earned legs toward titles, and have our 4th RIDE litter UKC Show Champion!
Momma Furrari kicked off October in style at the Illinois Toy Fox Terrier Association's show, coming home with:
1x Group 2nd
1x Group 1st
andddd her second BEST IN SHOW!
Huge thank you to esteemed herding judges, Tracie Karsjens and Pam Moore for these wins!
Our Furrari clone, Nova (Royal Nova Ride OFFK), won the champion class at the United White Shepherd Club's show, earning her first leg towards her UKC Grand Show Champion (GRCH) title! I can't believe these guys aren't even a year old and are already killing it in the show ring. Nova is owned and handled by Ava Foreman and co-owned with Jean Reeves.
Next up, little miss Lumen (Lumen Ride Side By Side OFFK) won a BOB and Group 3rd under judge Mary Ellen Meyer in Minneapolis, MN to finish off her UKC Show Champion (CH) title! Lumen is owned, trained, and handled by Karla Carlson. This makes Lumen the 4th RIDE Litter puppy (of 9 puppies total) to earn her CH title! We are elated with Lumen and her siblings, and cannot wait for their future as they continue to grow and mature.
Furrari and I attended the first annual UKC Total Dog Invitational, where we had a highly successful weekend! We earned:
199 & 3rd in Intermediate Agility
99 & 1st in Rally Level 2
99 & 1st in Rally Level 3
99 & 1st in Rally Masters
HIGH IN TRIAL in Rally
With those results, we finished NATIONAL TOTAL DOG 2ND PLACE OVERALL. Of course, this makes Furrari the FIRST EVER White Shepherd to attend and place at the Total Dog Invitational. Our placement also came with a $5,000 check. Let me make it clear - cash prizes are virtually NEVER offered at dog shows. We are over the moon with these results and appreciative to UKC and our judges over the weekend - Michelle Hoppes, Terri Kaluza, Rick Gann, Mary Ellen Meyer, and Valerie Piltz.
Furrari also did a few more USDAA@Home courses, and finished up her Agility Dog (AD) title, meaning she is now completely out of Starters. We are hopeful we can pick up a couple more runs polish off her Advanced Agility Dog (AAD) in November!
In other big news, little miss Beatles (Ticket to Ride OFFK) has found a co-own home with Claudia Cahill in Chicago, IL. We are ecstatic that Beatles, now called "Indy" has a home to call her own where she can be the center of attention, while also remaining a valuable breeding prospect for Fireside Fernweh.
All in all, we had another great month of showing and trialing! It's hard to believe our RIDE litter is nearly a year old now. 2021 has been great thus far, and I suspect 2022 will bring more amazing accomplishments for these little riders!!!
